Evacuees

SEPTEMBER 1939

On Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd, 130 evacuees from Green School, their mothers, helpers and other children arrived in Brandon and detrained from the station were they are met with buses. Their Headmistress, Miss Chesterfield, oversees their arrival in the town and the Women’s Institute are on hand to attend to the children’s needs. They are all put in billets before dark.
